CAMRYN BYER HAWAII

My Story

I’m Camryn Byer — real food nutritionist, mom of two, wife, and advocate for slow & sustainable living.

I’m here to encourage you to slow down and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Having a slow approach to everyday life, consuming less, enjoying nutrient dense meals at home, being present and aware of your surroundings are a few of the things I’m passionate about.

I want to share a few memories that encouraged me to adopt a slower lifestyle. Harvesting fresh tomatoes and snapping green beans from my great great grandmother’s garden! I remember a few of us sitting around the table laughing, snapping, and singing with a warm breeze coming in from the open windows. As a child, I remember sitting out on the porch with my great grandfather eating fresh fruits and then deciding to go fishing for supper. In the summertime, my siblings and I would run around outside at night until we were exhausted. Then we would lay in the grass listening to the frogs and crickets chirp. All of these memories live rent free in my head.

This is what started my love for slow country living. I would love for my children to grow up loving the simple things in life. My goal is to create similar memories with them — when my husband and I are up in age, we pray for the days when we are sitting on our porch and all of our children share their favorite memories, and their children are playing out in the fields on our land … keeping that same healthy cycle going. That’s what I live for.

Our Family's Nutrition

Philosophy.

As a nutritionist, I wholeheartedly believe that REAL FOOD should come from the earth, from the fields or local farms, from our oceans, and made with love.

Real food, also known as whole foods, should be minimally processed or in their most natural state. Our family currently eats very similar to a Mediterranean diet or Mediterranean Eating Pattern (MEP).

Our Mediterranean lifestyle is based around organic fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, fish, eggs, along with some meat, dairy, olive oil, and red wine. The wine is for those over the age of 21 and in moderation of course!
