The Conscious Bar Review
My Honest The Conscious Bar Review
I've always loved the idea of finding chocolate bars that feel a little more intentional, something made with simple ingredients that still tastes like an actual treat. That's why I wanted to try out The Conscious Bar. Their chocolate is made with organic cacao and sweetened with organic dates rather than added sugar, and many of the bars have surprisingly short ingredient lists.Yay for that!
So far, I've tried Creamy Tahini, Almond Sea Salt, and Roasted Hazelnut, and I've genuinely enjoyed them. Even my kids seem to be fans, which is always good in our house. The Roasted Hazelnut is easily my favorite of the three. And if The Conscious Bar ever makes a pistachio version... I will absolutely volunteer as tribute to test it.
One thing I like is that these bars aren't overly sweet. I don't really enjoy desserts or candy that taste overwhelmingly sugary, so the deeper cacao flavor and more restrained sweetness from the dates is much more my style. They're still chocolate and still feel like a treat but they just aren't trying to hit you over the head with sweetness.
The company says it works directly with cacao farmers, and its packaging is completely plastic-free and compostable even the interior film and sealing materials are designed to break down rather than linger as plastic waste. That kind of detail is a win for me, especially for something as small and everyday as a chocolate-bar wrapper.
Are The Conscious Chocolate Bars Worth It?
Hmmm, this is where I think it's important to be realistic. $10 IS expensive for a chocolate bar. For the everyday person or a family buying several bars at a time, I don't think we should pretend otherwise. Most people aren't going to consider a $10 chocolate bar an everyday grocery-store purchase.
At the same time, I understand why this isn't priced like conventional chocolate. You're paying for organic ingredients, a very short ingredient list, direct-trade sourcing and thoughtful compostable packaging. They also offers quantity discounts, which can bring the individual price down when purchasing multiple bars.
For me, that makes The Conscious Bar more of an intentional treat than something I'd mindlessly keep stocked by the dozen. I like knowing what's in it, I like the flavor, and I appreciate The Conscious Bar’s approach to sourcing and sustainability. If those things matter to you too (life me), I think it's one of those premium products where you can understand what you're paying extra for.
My verdict: I really like them. The short ingredient lists, date-sweetened chocolate and not-too-sweet flavor are what win me over, with Roasted Hazelnut currently taking first place in my house. They're undeniably pricey, but there's also considerably more intention behind them than the average chocolate bar. And seriously, The Conscious Bar: please make pistachio next.
